Could LeBron join Curry with Warriors? One analyst thinks it’s not crazy

The idea of LeBron James finishing his career alongside Stephen Curry has been floating around NBA circles for years.

And according to CBS Sports’ Brad Botkin, it may be more realistic than it once seemed.

Botkin explored the possibility after comments from Andscape’s Marc Spears suggested the Warriors plan to make a major splash this summer. Spears indicated Curry expects another big-name star to join him in Golden State.

Several names could fit that description, including Giannis Antetokounmpo. But Botkin pointed out that scenario would likely require the Warriors to gut their roster and draft capital.

James, however, is a different story.

Marc Spears says Stephen Curry expects a MAJOR addition to the Warriors soon:

“There's going to be somebody next summer that's going to join him, join Jimmy, join Draymond… whether it’s a Giannis, whether it’s a LeBron James.”

The Lakers star is expected to become a free agent this summer. If he chose to, he could theoretically sign with Golden State without forcing the Warriors to dismantle their core.

Botkin noted that while James is no longer the player he once was, he could still fit alongside Curry. The reason is simple. Curry thrives playing off the ball, while players like Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green do not necessarily need to dominate scoring.

Of course, the reality is far from certain. James could re-sign with the Lakers, return to the Cavaliers, or retire.

Still, the idea of two of the greatest players of this era trying to chase one last championship together would certainly capture attention.

As Botkin noted, it would be nothing if not box-office theater.
