Couple Passed on Naz Reid’s Autograph and Made a Surprisingly Wholesome Request Instead

Naz Reid has grown accustomed to fans asking for autographs and selfies before games. Since the Minnesota Timberwolves drafted him in 2019, he has established himself as one of the most lovable players on the roster.

While most other fans would jump the barricades to hug him and ask for his name on a shirt or something, one couple gave the Timberwolves big man a much more memorable request ahead of Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs.

As fans packed the arena early Friday night, waiting for players to warm up, Naz Reid was approached near the tunnel by a couple carrying their newborn baby. Instead of asking for an autograph, they simply wanted the Timberwolves fan favorite to hold their child for a photo.

The wholesome interaction was captured on video by one of the social media accounts and quickly caught attention online.

Rather than brushing off the unusual request, the New Jersey-born smiled, picked up the baby, and posed for the picture without hesitation, creating one of the more heartwarming moments of the postseason so far.

The reigning Sixth Man of the Year has continued building his reputation both on and off the court during another strong campaign. Naz Reid averaged 13.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists during the regular season while shooting 45.6 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from three-point range.

He has also played an important role in Minnesota’s second-round battle against San Antonio. Through the opening two games of the series, Reid averaged 11.5 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting an impressive 60 percent from the field and over 71 percent from beyond the arc.

Naz Reid Is Saving The Timberwolves Big-Time By Pairing With Julius Randle

The pairing of Naz Reid and Julius Randle looked like a problem the Minnesota Timberwolves would eventually have to solve.

The offensive talent was undeniable, but defensively, the lineup often felt too vulnerable to survive meaningful playoff minutes. Minnesota regularly struggled to protect the rim when both forwards were on the floor, without Rudy Gobert anchoring the defense.

Now, in the postseason, that same combination is becoming one of the Timberwolves’ biggest advantages.

Minnesota’s playoff run has revealed a completely different version of the Randle-Reid frontcourt. Instead of simply surviving those minutes, the Timberwolves are dominating them.

The spacing, shot creation, and added versatility have stretched opposing defenses in ways Minnesota rarely managed during the regular season.

What makes the shift even more important is that the defense has finally stabilized.
