Daigneault Sends Thunder 'Better Team' Message Ahead of Game 2 Against Pacers

The Oklahoma City Thunder held a commanding edge over the Indiana Pacers for most of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and didn't surrender a single lead to their opponent until Tyrese Haliburton hit the go-ahead shot with 0.3 seconds remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter.

Oklahoma City lost just its second contest at home during these playoffs -- now 8-2 in the Paycom Center this postseason -- by a score of 111-110, as Indiana's run of crazy comebacks and bewildering buzzer-beaters continued on Thursday night, June 5.

The Thunder host the Pacers for Game 2 on Sunday night in what now feels like a must-win contest for the No. 1 overall seed, not just in the Western Conference but in the entire league following a 68-14 regular season record and a 12-5 mark in the playoffs to this point.

Oklahoma City head coach Mark Daigneault sent his team a fairly blunt message on Saturday, approximately 24 hours prior to tip-off of the biggest game any of them have ever played.

"There's no team I'm more confident in being ready to play [than ours]," Daigneault said. "When the ball goes up in the air tomorrow, the better team is going to win. And we want to do everything we can to be that team."

The Thunder enter the contest as 10.5-point favorites to win, per ESPN BET. The line for Game 1 jumped to Oklahoma City plus-10 before tip-off on Thursday, though the Pacers outscored the Thunder 35-25 in the final quarter to win the contest 111-110.
