Dallas Mavericks point guard Brandon Williams got a good injury update on Wednesday. Read on for the latest about Williams’ injury, recovery, and the like.
Williams, 26, suffered right Achilles soreness ahead of the Mavericks’ game against the Utah Jazz on Dec. 15. The Mavericks went on to drop a 140-133 overtime decision to the Jazz in Salt Lake City.
His injury status remains uncertain, but the Mavericks’ recent change to “questionable” suggests he might be able to play Thursday night against the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons in Dallas.
He, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell went through a full practice on Wednesday, per Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News. Curtis’ recent update should help Mavs fans breathe a sigh of relief for today.
His outlook appears to be bright. He has played in 24 games, including nine starts, this season. He has been averaging 10.8 points, 4.2 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game, along with 36.9% shooting from the field and 20.3% from downtown.
His presence has helped the Mavs amid an injury-plagued roster and inconsistent play. The Mavs’ success is uncertain, but if they keep up the good work, they can maintain their overall improvement level in the coming weeks.
Without a doubt, Dallas’ Thursday night matchup vs. Detroit will likely be a challenge. But if Williams, Davis, and Russell return, the outcome of the game can be a hard-fought battle.
