The Dallas Mavericks play their first Western Conference Finals in over a decade tonight as they face the Golden State Warriors after a triumphant upset series win over the league-leading Phoenix Suns. The Mavericks have gotten to this stage with their mercurial 23-year-old talent in Luka Doncic.

Luka is proving his worth as one of the best players in the world and can build his legacy if the Mavericks make it to the NBA Finals over the Warriors. Taking a break from the game before a high-stakes battle allows players to find a balance between competition and reality. So, when a picture of Luka Doncic having a beer with Boban Marjanovic leaked, many thought it was just a quick break before the game.

However, a lot of hate started pouring in and Luka was accused of not taking the stage he is on seriously. The Mavericks have had to officially address the picture of Luka drinking beer via a statement to TMZ and say that the picture is old and not from today:

"I can tell you this wasn't taken today."

The spokesperson also alleged that Luka has been preparing for Game 1 all morning and was in the training room instead of a bar with Boban. Knowing the kind of coach Jason Kidd is, he definitely wouldn't have allowed a pre-match beer for Doncic, especially considering how him being on the court for long stretches is vital for the Mavs.

Doncic has been accused of not taking care of his body for a few seasons now. He always comes into the season out of shape and is known for enjoying a lot of hookah during the off-season.

However, Doncic has played himself into shape and is one of the biggest individual threats left in the playoffs. The Warriors would have hoped this picture is from today, but it seems Luka will be on top of his game for this pivotal matchup.
