The Dallas Mavericks‘ attempt to take a step closer to a Western Conference Finals berth on Sunday night has taken a major twist. This is after news broke that superstar guard Luka Doncic has now been listed as questionable to play less than two hours before Game 3 against the Minnesota Timberwolves tips off.
At this point, the Mavs could be without their best player in Sunday’s pivotal showdown.
It was Mavs head coach Jason Kidd who announced just before tip-off that Doncic remains questionable to play due to a right knee sprain:
Jason Kidd says Luka Doncic remains questionable and his status for Game 3 will be determined after his warmup. “I wouldn’t say setback — soreness,” Kidd said regarding Doncic’s sprained right knee.

Doncic has been dealing with this knee problem for quite some time now. He’s also nursing a sore left ankle, which just goes to show how banged up the 25-year-old is throughout the postseason.
Be that as it may, Luka has not missed a single game in the playoffs thus far, and despite this somewhat troubling update from Kidd, Doncic is still expected to play through the injury again on Sunday night.
Then again, there is no guarantee that Doncic will be able to suit up in Game 3. The fact that the Mavs won both Games 1 and 2 in Minnesota and are sitting on a significant series advantage could also play a role in the team’s decision on their superstar’s status for Sunday’s clash.
Nevertheless, you can be sure that so long as there is no serious risk here, Doncic will do everything in his power to be available for his team in Game 3.
