Russell Westbrook is currently at the dusk of his career. Having had a legendary career, the 37-year-old is looking to close out his career with the Sacramento Kings. Over the years, names like Kevin Durant have praised Westbrook for his incredible athleticism. Unfortunately, alongside all the praises, he also had to bear some not-so-happy experiences. And Damian Lillard is not holding back on it.

Back in August 2021, the Lakers roped in the 2017 NBA MVP. Surprisingly, despite his stellar pedigree, the legendary star often ended up on the bench for the purple and gold brigade. Speaking about such a treatment, Lillard lashed out at the Lakers’ management for disrespecting the Hall of Famer.

“Lakers had Russ coming off the bench like he’s not Hall of Famer Russell Westbrook… like what?” Lillard said in an appearance on ‘The Last Stand’ podcast.

Westbrook parted ways with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023. Suiting up for the team in 130 games, the 9-time NBA All-Star averaged 17.4 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.9 rebounds.

Meanwhile, as he tries to get his game up for the Kings, Westbrook recently received a brutal injury update.

Russell Westbrook Might Miss the Remainder of the NBA Season

Despite all the talk about his ageing, the 2-time NBA scoring champion recently made history against the Spurs. But all of that looks pretty far-fetched at the moment. According to recent reports, the 37-year-old underwent an MRI due to persistent discomfort in his foot. The reports suggested that the veteran star will miss games for an indefinite period.

Kings guard Russell Westbrook recently underwent MRI imaging on his right foot after missing the last two games due to foot soreness. MRI imaging was consistent with irritation in the joint of the first toe on his right foot. Westbrook will be listed as out and further updates will be provided as appropriate,” Sacramento’s official statement read.

Thus, as fans will miss out on his constant on-court trash talk, Westbrook would look to make a comeback as soon as possible.
