Damian Lillard Refutes Controversial Bucks Report

The Milwaukee Bucks shocked the basketball world on Tuesday when they waived Damian Lillard in order to sign Myles Turner to a four-year, $107 million deal. It was an abrupt end to Lillard's time in Milwaukee.

Lillard had arrived via trade from the Portland Trail Blazers in 2023 to much fanfare, but the Bucks did not enjoy much success with him. They were knocked out in the first round in 2024 and 2025 by the Indiana Pacers, and injuries played a part in that.

Lillard himself missed two games in the series against the Pacers last year and, of course, tore his Achilles in Game 4 this time around. With the 34-year-old set for a long spell on the sidelines, the Bucks decided it was time to part ways.

Lillard was reportedly not informed about the Bucks' decision before news broke. As if that wasn't a bad enough look, NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that the team denied the nine-time All-Star's request to rehab from the injury in Portland, where his family still resides.

The Bucks were widely criticized for this decision, but it appears they did no such thing. Lillard commented on Courtside Buzz's Instagram post about Haynes' report that the team had approved the request.

This is an interesting turn of events. A player coming to the defense of the team that waived them is somewhat surprising, but this is a bit of a unique situation.

Lillard was reportedly elated by the Bucks' decision, as he now has full control over his future. He can go to whichever team he wants to, as he chases that elusive NBA title.
