The Minnesota Timberwolves had their postseason run cut by the San Antonio Spurs in the second round, and they didn’t leave them any air to breathe in Game 6. The Spurs had control for the majority of the game, and by the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves were down by a very large margin.
That led Anthony Edwards to go over to the Spurs’ bench with about nine minutes left in the game, and he dapped up everybody on the team, including the coaches. Since then, there has been a lot of criticism thrown his way following his actions, and Dan Patrick was the latest to share his opinion.
“Anthony Edwards could be well intentioned, but with 9 minutes to go, I can’t do that,” Patrick said on his show.
“You gotta read the room here,” Patrick continued. “Yes, you’re getting blown out, and you’re going to go down there and congratulate them? How about we wait six or seven minutes before you do it?”

It doesn’t seem like many people were fans of what he did, but Edwards explained his reasoning after reporters asked him.
“At that point, you know you ain’t going back in, so you’re just trying to get them the respect that they deserve,” Edwards told reporters.
It makes sense, but as a competitor, some thought that he should’ve waited until the end of the game. LeBron James once pulled the same move in 2018 against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, but he did it with about four minutes left in the game.
There should definitely be other things to talk about regarding the Timberwolves, including what moves they should make to try to improve the team this offseason. Everyone knows that they’ll be in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, and they’ll have to put together a nice package in order to land him.
