D'Angelo Russell Reveals How He Wants to 'Go Out' Amid Lakers Trade Rumors

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the middle of a three-game winning streak following three straight triple-doubles from LeBron James.

The Lakers' latest win was against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, 128-123, with James tallying 35 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists.

Curiously, the team's string of victories came since D'Angelo Russell was moved by coach JJ Redick to the bench. But instead of sulking, Russell has maintained his professionalism, saying in a previous interview that he left all his baggage at the door in the offseason.

The 28-year-old guard has been the subject of trade rumors due to his up-and-down play and expiring $18.6 million contract. His demotion to the bench has only fueled more speculations.

Russell, however, said he's maintaining an even-keeled mindset.

"Let’s do it the right way," said the former All-Star on his "The Backyard Podcast" on Thursday. "If you’re going out, go out the right way.

"It may not be 25 points per game, eight assists per game, having a high usage, but showing a different route. Just a different approach. I’m committed to it, ups and downs."

He is averaging a career-low 12.5 points, 40.2% field goals and 4.6 assists per game. In the Lakers' three straight wins, he put up 13.6 points, 47.0% field goals and 2.0 assists per outing.

The Utah Jazz, the Washington Wizards and the Milwaukee Bucks have been floated around as possible destinations for Russell.

In the meantime, the Lakers will gun for their fourth consecutive victory on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs
