Darius Garland Climbs Cavs Franchise Record Book
© David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers ' loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday night is one the team is going to want to quickly move past. However, Darius Garland still did something notable in the game that further cements his legacy in Cleveland.

DG knocked down his 629th three-pointer as a member of the Cavaliers which officially moved him past Cedi Osman on the franchise's all-time three-point list. It also places Garland in the top 5 in franchise history. Cedi still sits at six with 628.

It took Osman six seasons for him to knock down 628 threes with the Cavaliers. During that time, he shot 35% from behind the arc on 4.4 attempts a game. On the other hand, Garland is just in his fifth season in Cleveland and is still under contract with the team through the 2028 season.

There's still potential for him to climb quite a bit higher on the list.

The next player the DG is chasing down is Kyrie Irving who is currently fourth on the list. Garland still has a ways to go though. Kyrie hit 723 during his time with the Cavaliers and no three-pointer was bigger than the one hit made in the closing minute of the 2016 Finals.

Three-point shooting has always been a strength of Garland. He's a career 38% shooter from behind the arc on 5.7 attempts a game. However, this season has struggled a little bit more shooting from long range.

DG is currently shooting just 36% from behind the arc on 5.7 attempts a game. Perhaps, moving up in the franchise leader books will give a little spark from deep.
