Gradey Dick will be with the Toronto Raptors Summer League team once again.
The 20-year-old sharpshooter is entering his sophomore year and he will be given a bigger role this season.
Summer League will give Dick a valuable opportunity to continue to work on his game and develop.
Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic talked about how a second run of Summer League will help Dick’s game, via theScore:
“Last year he was just getting his feet wet and learning the pace of the game and what the game brings. This year it’s just next step for him. I would like to see him be more involved in some on ball action as well. Offensively, handling the ball a little bit more in the pick and roll. Just trying to open up the next box for him. I think he’s been putting in a lot of work this summer and those games that we have over here in Summer League are a really good check point to see where he makes those strides and improvements but to also give us information on what we need to focus on for the rest of the summer.”
Last season Dick got off to a slow start before finishing the year strong. He appeared in 60 games for the Raptors in his rookie season, averaging 8.5 points on 42.5 percent shooting from the field and 36.5 percent shooting from deep in 21 minutes per contest.
The Raptors are in the midst of their rebuild, so Dick will have a bigger role in his second season.
With the Raptors likely moving on from Gary Trent Jr., Dick could very well slide in as a starter for the Raptors this season. If Dick wants to strengthen his chances of starting for Toronto then a good Summer League showing is a must.
The Raptors have a young and exciting team but it will take time before they compete at a high level once again.
Darko Rajakovic talked about how it’s going to be a clean slate for the Raptors heading into the 2024-25 season.
