Darvin Ham's Viral Quote After Grizzlies-Lakers Game
USA TODAY Sports

On Friday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies (at home) by a score of 127-113.

The Grizzlies were able to pull away in the fourth quarter, and Jaren Jackson Jr. led the way with 31 points, nine rebounds, one assist and three blocks while shooting 11/14 from the field and 5/6 from the three-point range.

After the loss, head coach Darvin Ham met with the media, and one of his quotes is going viral on social media (h/t ESPN's Dave McMenamin and Laker Nation's Daniel Starkand).

Ham: "This is the NBA, man, this is a marathon. You have to look at the totality of the picture. I'm tired of people living and dying with every single game we play. It's ludicrous. Actually, Like, come on, man, this is a marathon."

With the loss, the Lakers dropped to 17-19 in their first 36 games, which has them as the 11th seed in the Western Conference.

They are 2-8 over their last ten games and in the middle of a four-game losing streak.

That said, the Lakers still have three more games in a row at home and will host James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Ham is in his second season as the team's head coach.

Last season, the Lakers were 25-30 in their first 55 games but ended up making the NBA playoffs and defeated the Grizzlies and Warriors in the first two rounds.

They got swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.
