The Boston Red Sox have won four World Series titles this century, the most in Major League Baseball. At the heart of three of those teams was David Ortiz, arguably the greatest clutch hitter of all time.
The 2022 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, who helped reverse the curse and usher in a two-decade stretch of perhaps unparalleled championship success by a region, knows as well as anyone about what it takes to win at the highest level and do so in as passionate and pressure-packed a sports city as Boston.
In an interview with John Tomase of NBC Sports Boston, Ortiz shared why he senses Banner 18 and more are on the horizon for the Boston Celtics, with Jayson Tatum leading the way.
"I might be his number 1 fan... he also knows what he's playing at. He knows the fans are true fans in Boston."

"I might be his number one fan out of all of Boston," said the ten-time All-Star. "I mean, I love Jayson. (And as a) matter of fact -- yesterday, I just signed a jersey for him. And it'll come. I'm telling you right now, it's gonna happen. And (it's) not just gonna happen one time. It's gonna happen many times because he do nothing but get better.
"He has established himself as one of the elite players in the league. He knows what it takes to win, but he also knows where he's playing at. He knows that the fans are true fans up in Boston, and every time he takes that court, he shows it."
