De'Aaron Fox gets 'brutally honest' about NBA All-Star Game: 'I think it's stupid'

The NBA is moving closer to reaching a deal with the players' union for the All-Star Game to be played in March, but some players have made it clear they don't support the idea. That includes De'Aaron Fox, who admitted he felt it was "stupid" for the league to schedule an ultimately pointless game in the midst of an ongoing pandemic.

"I’m going to be brutally honest, I think it’s stupid," Fox said, via The Athletic. "If we have to wear masks and do all this for a regular game, what’s the point of bringing the All-Star Game back?"

It's hard to disagree with Fox's logic here, as the NBA has already struggled to keep its shortened season afloat after several teams had players test positive. The league implemented stronger restrictions to try and keep the risk of spread as low as possible, but if the NBA is so determined to limit the spread of the coronavirus, why have the All-Star Game at all?

Normally, the All-Star Game is a fun event where fans get to see all of the best players in the league compete. But the past year has taught us all to not expect normal, and having players from a variety of different teams travel just to play a single game against each other feels like a completely unnecessary risk. 

Unfortunately, so far, Fox is the only player in the league to speak out against the All-Star Game. Unless more join him, it's unlikely that the game will be canceled despite the obvious risk.
