De'Aaron Fox on the biggest complainers in the NBA: 'Draymond will clothesline you and then look at the ref like, 'What'd I do?''

Complaining and trying to get the referees' sympathy has become an art in the NBA. However, some players have abused it, which hasn't sat well with many fans and players. Among the most common culprits are Luka Doncic and Draymond Green.

Sacramento Kings star De'Aaron Fox has probably gotten used to the pair's bellyaching ways. He appeared on a recent episode of "Run It Back," where Lou Williams reminded him of when Doncic blatantly fouled him and then vehemently protested the whistle, resulting in a meme-worthy reaction from Fox.

"I'm like, 'Bro, you very clearly fouled me,'" he said about the incident with Doncic. "That's why Malik [Monk] sitting there and laughing, too. It's like, 'Bro, you smacked my whole arm. What are you complaining about?'"

Luka's incessant whining

The Dallas Mavericks superstar may be one of the greatest players of this generation, but he has earned the ire of plenty of folks because of his nonstop whining. His coach, Jason Kidd, already asked him to stop three years ago. For some reason, the Slovenian phenom just can't help but "b*tch" at the officials, as Bill Simmons once put it.

It's a good thing Doncic isn't on the same team as Green. Otherwise, the referees would dread calling such a squad's games because they would have to deal with two complainers all the time.

As Fox said, the Golden State Warriors forward is known for his shameful tendency to gripe about unfavorable calls even though they are accurate.

"Luka's up there," the All-Star said when asked who he thinks is the biggest crybaby in the league. "Draymond will clothesline you and then look at the ref like, 'What'd I do?'"

What's ironic, though, is how Green has called out other NBA players (and even coaches) for trying to get the media or officials to side with them. For instance, he recently ripped into Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins and rookie Zach Edey for upgrading his foul to a flagrant call.

The technical foul kings

It's no coincidence that Doncic and Dray are usually among the league leaders in technical fouls. The last time neither of them were in the top five was the 2016-17 campaign, but that's just because the four-time champion placed sixth. This year, they are tied for second with five techs apiece, and only Dillon Brooks has logged more.

The potential future Hall of Famers likely have no intention of changing their approaches during contests, even if it has sometimes been detrimental to their organizations.

For example, in the 2024 Finals, Doncic couldn't avoid complaining to the referees despite his Mavs' coaches reportedly doing their best to dissuade him. Brian Windhorst went as far as to say that the five-time All-Star was costing his team a chance at clinching the title.

The Warriors have also fallen prey to Green's reputation as a technical foul merchant. In Game 4 of the 2017 Finals, he was given a tech, his second of the evening, although the refs admitted they intended to call it on Steve Kerr. Amid the confusion, Dray was ejected. Still, Golden State managed to win the championship.
