The Charlotte Hornets are retiring Dell Curry’s No. 30 jersey on March 19. He was the 1994 Sixth Man of the Year, ranks second in points in franchise history, and spent 10 of his 16 NBA seasons in Charlotte (1988-98).
“I can’t put into words what that means,” Curry stated.
Dell talked about what it means to be the second Hornets player to have their jersey retired on NBA Today.
It’s not just about his playing career; he’s been a part and done other things that mean so much to this organization and Charlotte as a city. That has earned him his spot in the rafters.
This ceremony is more than just nostalgia; it’s a celebration of “Shooter DNA.” By hanging #30 in the rafters, the Hornets are locking in the Curry family as franchise royalty.
Such a joy listening to commentators Curry and Eric Collins nightly on broadcasts, with excitement in the air. Dell is one-half of the best NBA commentary duo and one of the best shooters the league has ever had.
Awesome! Now, retire Muggsy Bogues and Kemba Walker. They did so much for the organization and really helped the fan base grow as well.
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry and Seth Curry are the only brothers with 1,000+ three pointers each in the NBA. Dell laid the foundation in Charlotte, and his sons are raising the family name to the very top.
This was well-deserved. He was a huge part of the Hornets’ early success and a fantastic ambassador for the city.
