Sacramento Kings guard DeMar DeRozan has built one of the most prolific scoring careers in NBA history.
The 36-year-old owns career averages of 21.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He has appeared in 1,264 games across 17 seasons.
In 2025-26, DeRozan averages 18.4 points, 4.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds on 49.7 percent shooting in 77 games. He recently surpassed Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson on the all-time scoring list to reach 16th place.
Perimeter scorers are a rare breed in today's fast-paced, three-point-heavy NBA. The six-time All-Star has long been one of the best.
Not everyone has shown the veteran his flowers. DeRozan, never one to absorb disrespect quietly, is making that known.
DeRozan fumed after an X user questioned his place among the game's all-time scorers. The post cited his proximity to Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal. The Los Angeles Lakers icon sits 10th on the NBA's all-time scoring list with 28,596 career points.
"DeMar DeRozan only needs to average 18 PPG for another 105 games to surpass Shaq in career points and enter the all-time Top 10. I find this deeply disturbing," the post read.
The Kings guard did not let it slide.
"Disturbing!? [expletive] that mean? Who the hell is you to have an opinion on somebody career. Clown!" he clapped back.
DeRozan currently sits 16th on the all-time scoring list with 26,711 career points. He needs to climb past Carmelo Anthony, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, Russell Westbrook and Hakeem Olajuwon to reach Shaq and crack the top 10.
Beyond his perimeter excellence, DeRozan draws fouls at an elite rate and is a reliable clutch performer.
The record books are well within reach for DeRozan, and now he has added motivation to chase them.
