DeMar DeRozan, Knicks reportedly have mutual interest this summer

DeMar DeRozan has a big decision to make this summer in free agency as he's drawing interest from several clubs.

According to SNY's Ian Begley, there's mutual interest between the New York Knicks and DeRozan. The Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks are also reportedly interested in the San Antonio Spurs star.

However, it was also reported that DeRozan is interested in returning home to Los Angeles to play with LeBron James and the Lakers. According to Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, the four-time All-Star could forgo higher salary opportunities to join L.A. in pursuit of a championship following the team's trade for Russell Westbrook.

DeRozan has spent the last three seasons in San Antonio. During the 2020-21 campaign, he averaged 21.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game while shooting 49.5% from the field.

DeRozan just completed a five-year, $139 million contract. It's unclear what kind of deal he's searching for this summer. However, if he wants to win a title, the Lakers might be the place to go considering they have several stars compared to New York's young roster.

In addition to DeRozan, the Knicks have also been linked to Evan Fournier, Dennis Schroder and Spencer Dinwiddie this summer.
