DeMarcus Cousins Blames Jeff Teague For Viral Picture With Karl-Anthony Towns

DeMarcus Cousins was a guest on Jeff Teague's 'Club 520' podcast. During the episode, they discussed the now-iconic picture of DeMarcus Cousins and Karl-Anthony Towns. Cousins blamed Teague for instigating Towns to guard him, despite the fact that Cousins and Teague had priors from a previous game.

"I remember you were talking sh*t to me. You were like 'Why you ain't playing?'. I was sitting out the game. I was like, next time we play y'all, I'm playing. He [Towns] was like 'You scared of Do [Cousins]'..."

"So we go to Minnesota, we play him... I'm on the court like 'Yeah, motherf**ker! KAT, bust his ass!'. He said 'What?'. Bro, it's a picture - KAT posting up, he looking at our bench like... Then he gets on offense, he starts on Cuz. Cuz goes to the basket, KAT just wraps him up."

For Towns, who was still young in his career, going up against DeMarcus Cousins, who had a reputation for being one of the toughest players in the NBA, was certainly a challenge. If the story is to be believed, it wasn't a challenge that KAT was looking for, but one he had to take on because of his teammate.

Cousins was an aggressive force during his prime years in the NBA. While he is undersized at the center position, the power and aggression he brought to the role made him one of the most terrifying presences in the league during that time.

Perhaps that explosiveness was not meant to last, as Cousins would be out of the NBA just a few years later. A knee injury kept him out for the 2019-20 NBA season, which saw the Lakers, whom he had signed for and had been waived by, win the NBA championship without him. While he got a ring, Cousins would have loved to earn it on the court.

Karl-Anthony Towns Looking To Win The NBA Championship

Now entering his 10th NBA season, Karl-Anthony Towns will be aiming for an NBA championship. He and his teammate Anthony Edwards will be looking to improve on the Minnesota Timberwolves' performance from this season, and perhaps take the franchise to the NBA Finals for the first time in history.

Last year, Towns and Edwards played some of the best basketball of their careers to take the Timberwolves to the conference finals for the first time since the days of Kevin Garnett. The duo have brought the greatest prosperity to the franchise in years.

However, there have been rumors about unrest between Towns and Edwards, with many speculating that their relationship isn't very strong. Edwards and Towns, many believe, do not get along. But KAT shut these rumors down, claiming that he is one of Edwards' biggest supporters, and only wants what's best for him.

Perhaps the duo can be the first pair to bring a championship to the franchise. Being able to do what Kevin Garnett, one of the greatest players in NBA history, wasn't able to do would be a great feather in their caps, and cement them as a historic duo in the league.
