Cousins one of five players Heat are considering adding

The Miami Heat shocked the world last year when they went on a magical NBA Bubble run to make the Finals. Although they ultimately came up short against the Los Angeles Lakers, the team established itself as an Eastern Conference powerhouse.

Unfortunately, 32 games into the season, Miami is 15-17 and not even in the playoff picture right now.

In order for things to change, and quickly, the organization will need to commit to making some moves.

Fortunately, Pat Riley and Co. have options.

Lots of them.

According to Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report, Miami is taking a look at several players.

“The league source said Cousins – who is expected to clear waivers at 5 p.m Thursday – is one of a handful of players that the Heat internally has discussed and been considering,” he wrote. “A group that also includes San Antonio’s Rudy Gay (if he’s made available in a trade), Sacramento’s Nemanja Bjelica (said to be available), Houston’s PJ Tucker (said to be available) and Detroit’s Blake Griffin (but only if he’s released).”

If the Heat do try to make a play for Cousins, they’ll have to beat out two other teams to get him.

Miami has also loosely been linked to a potential deal for Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal, but it remains to be seen if anything will ultimately materialize on that front.

One way or another, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Heat need to do something to turn their season around. What precisely that "something" will be remains to be seen.
