The Sacramento Kings made the move to trade Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets and now they’ve made another move. This time they are signing free agent Dennis Schroder.
Schroder, who played for the Detroit Pistons last season, was expected to move on from Detroit. It’s reported that Schroder is signing a three-year, $45 million deal with the Kings.

This is a great pickup for the Kings, as they traded star point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last February. Schroder is a solid player, averaging 10.8 points and 5.3 assists in 28 games with the Pistons last season.
Schroder played for three teams last season (Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons) and has struggled to find a home since leaving the Los Angeles Lakers in 2021.
The guard famously turned down a 4-year deal worth $84 million with the Lakers, expecting to get a larger contract elsewhere. Well, those offers never came and Schroder ended up taking a one-year, $5.9 million deal with the Boston Celtics.
Schroder will now be hoping to stay put in Sacramento for the entire 2025-26 NBA season. And maybe beyond.
