Denver Nuggets: Aaron Gordon Calls Nikola Jokic a Genius After Solid Game 3 Win vs Lakers
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets look to be cruising in the first round of the 2024 playoffs as they took care of the Los Angeles Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena. While the Purple and Gold have been doing everything they can to stop the Nuggets, the Purple and Gold couldn’t find an answer to Nikola Jokic.

As the Joker wants his team to keep their focus and close out the series in four games, one of his teammates isn’t shy about praising his All-Star teammate for every good thing he’s doing on the floor.

Aaron Gordon gives Nikola Jokic the ‘genius’ tag after Denver Nuggets’ masterful performance vs Lakers

Gordon fielded questions to the media after the Nuggets’ strong 112-105 win over the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena. One of the things the press wanted to know was how well his basketball IQ has developed since he was traded to Denver from the Orlando Magic and began working with a unique center in Jokic.

Air Gordon wasn’t shy about telling everyone who would listen how highly he thought of the two-time MVP.

Joker is a basketball genius,” Gordon said of his Serbian teammate. “He’s just a genius and he happens to play basketball. He makes the game very easy.”

He also addressed how Jokic’s influence has impacted his play:

When you think [about] the game like that, the game unlocks. You can start seeing plays two, three steps ahead. You can start to nuance the game a lot, and it just [becomes] easier to play.

Gordon enjoyed a solid night as he was the focal point of the Nuggets offense last night. He finished the game with 29 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and a steal. What’s more impressive is the fact that he didn’t even convert his sole three-point attempt in the process.

Jokic was as equally impressive on the floor. The Joker scored 24 points, grabbed 15 boards, provided nine assists, and shot 9-for-13 on the floor.

With the way the Nuggets have been playing, it’s not hard to imagine them sweeping the Purple and Gold if they don’t make any radical adjustments. And Denver Nuggets fans can count on both Gordon and Jokic to keep wreaking havoc on a hapless Lakers defense in the process.
