The Denver Nuggets have been quite active during this NBA offseason. They just went through a rather puzzling season. They chose to fire head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth just days before the end of the regular season. Many weren't sure how they'd do in the NBA Playoffs with an interim David Adelman leading the charge into the playoffs.
There, they met the then-red-hot Los Angeles Clippers. While the Nuggets didn't have much depth going into the playoffs, they still had Nikola Jokic, who is still one of the best players in the world. They also got incredible, timely offensive rebounding and shot-making from Russell Westbrook, who shot 42.7% from deep in the first round.
While they went on to fall to the eventual champion Oklahoma City Thunder, they pushed the best team in the league to seven games and significantly challenged the Thunder.
Attempting to add depth at the big man position, the Nuggets traded Dario Saric to the Sacramento Kings for veteran center Jonas Valanciunas. However, things hit a snag when a Greek club, Panathinaikos, reportedly offered Valanciunas a contract.
On Sunday, the Nuggets made a significant decision regarding Valaciunas' contract situation, according to Shams Charania.
"Denver has informed Jonas Valanciunas' reps that the franchise fully intends to have him honor his contract as the Nuggets view Valanciunas as a critical center addition to back up Nikola Jokic and play alongside him. Greek team Panathinaikos pursued Valanciunas in recent days.

That's just one of many moves the Nuggets have made this offseason. They have made significant moves in an attempt to improve. They traded Michael Porter Jr. to the Brooklyn Nets, who in return landed them Cameron Johnson, while also bringing back fan-favorite guard Bruce Brown.
While Valanciunas is 33 years old, he will provide more production than Saric, who wasn't in the rotation for the Nuggets last season. He'll also be able to provide a significant boost in rebounding while Jokic catches a breather.
