Denver Nuggets: Jamal Murray in Danger of Missing Game 2 Vs. Timberwolves With Troubling Injury
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets have their backs against the wall right now. This is after the defending champions slipped up in a major way on Saturday as they lost Game 1 to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 106-99.

Anthony Edwards and the Wolves upset the Nuggets on their own home floor as Denver gave up home-court advantage in the series. What’s even more troubling for the Nuggets, however, is that they could be without superstar point guard Jamal Murray in their must-win Game 2 clash on Monday night.

Denver Nuggets News: Jamal Murray Questionable to Play in Game 2

Murray was not a hundred percent in their Game 1 loss as the 27-year-old played through a left calf strain. He posted 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting, to go along with one rebound and four assists, which clearly wasn’t enough to help Denver protect their home court against an unforgiving Minnesota side.

The problem now for the Nuggets is that Murray has been listed as questionable to play for Game 2, which means that there is some serious doubt regarding his availability for Monday’s crucial matchup.

The silver lining here for the Nuggets is that Murray was considered questionable to play for Game 1 as well, but he was ultimately able to suit up. The 6-foot-4 combo guard also came into Denver’s series-clinching Game 5 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round with the same designation, but he ended up playing and hitting the game-winning basket in that one.

Be that as it may, it is clear that Murray isn’t at full strength, and while this may not have been too significant of a factor against LeBron James and the Lakers in the first round, this injury could very well be what determines Denver’s fate in the second round against Minnesota.
