Derrick Rose Made NBA History In Grizzlies-Rockets Game
USA TODAY Sports

On Wednesday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies are in Texas facing off against the Houston Rockets.

During the game, Derrick Rose made NBA history by becoming the 250th player to score 12,500 career points.

Rose came into the evening with 12,496 career points, and he has also moved ahead of Mike Newlin (12,507) for 249th on the all-time scoring list.

Following Newlin, the next player for Rose to pass on the list will be Gordon Hayward (12,513).

Rose entered the matchup with averages of 8.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest while shooting 43.3% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point range in 13 games.

He has been a solid contributor in his first season with the team, but the Grizzlies have gotten off to a poor start.

They are 6-16 in their first 22 games, which has them as the 13th seed in the Western Conference.

The Grizzlies are also in the middle of a two-game losing streak and are 3-7 over their last ten games.

Following Wednesday's game, they will play the Rockets (again) on Friday at home in Memphis.

Rose was the first pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and is in his 15th season playing in the league.

He has played for the New York Knicks (twice), Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers (in addition to the Grizzlies).

The 2011 MVP has career averages of 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest while shooting 45.5% from the field and 31.6% from the three-point range.
