This exciting announcement was made on July 1, 2025, emphasizing Rose’s deep ties to his hometown and his status as one of its most beloved sports figures.

As grand marshal, Rose will have the honor of giving the command "Drivers, start your engines," kicking off the pre-race festivities that fans look forward to. NASCAR Chicago Street Race President, Julie Giese, praised Rose, stating, "Derrick is one of the most beloved sports icons in the city's history, and we look forward to having him get NASCAR's only street race underway."
