The 2024-25 NBA season was an eventful campaign for veteran guard Dennis Schroder.
While Dennis Schroder started the season with the Brooklyn Nets, he was then traded to the Golden State Warriors.
But after a short stint with the Warriors, Schroder found himself on the Detroit Pistons for the final stretch of the season.
Now, as a 31-year-old, Schroder is an unrestricted free agent this summer. Speaking of which, the 12-year veteran dropped a cryptic update on his future with the Pistons.
Schroder played 28 games for the Pistons during the 2024-25 NBA season, averaging 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
Those are decent numbers, but are they good enough for the Pistons to bring back the veteran guard? Well, as things stand right now, the Pistons haven’t contacted Schroder about a potential contract extension.
“I want to stay in Detroit for sure, but Detroit ain’t waiting for me, I can tell you that much,” Schroder said on a live stream, h/t NBA Central.

Schroder may not have directly stated it, but he did imply that it’s unlikely the Pistons will bring him back following a short but solid stint.
With 12 years of experience to his name, Schroder is a seasoned veteran who can still fill a starting point guard role on a team.
Sure, his Warriors’ stint was disappointing, but as Steve Nash pointed out, Schroder thrived on the Pistons. Thus, increasing his value in the eyes of many teams around the league.
Among those teams, the Memphis Grizzlies could be a good fit for Schroder. He could be an excellent addition to the team, especially since the Grizzlies have traded Desmond Bane.
