Detroit Pistons' Injured Guard Trending Towards Return vs. Magic
USA Today

On Sunday night, the Detroit Pistons will host the Orlando Magic for a rematch of last weekend’s thriller. The home team hopes to get a notable boost as the rookie Marcus Sasser could be back in the lineup.

Lately, Sasser has been dealing with a knee contusion. His recent setback occurred when the Pistons returned from the All-Star break to take on the Indiana Pacers last week.

During his ten-minute shift against Indiana, Sasser was spotted dealing with pain in his lower body. When the Pistons paid a visit to the Magic last Saturday, Sasser was added to the injury report and eventually downgraded to out.

Unfortunately, the rookie’s absence wasn’t a one-game occasion. The Pistons wanted to re-evaluate the young guard in a week from when he was diagnosed with the contusion, leaving him to miss consecutive games.

Sasser would go on to miss Detroit’s matchups against the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

As the Pistons gear up for a matchup against the Magic on Sunday, Sasser has been upgraded to probable for the game, leaving him a good chance of making his return.

When Sasser last appeared on the court for the Pistons, he attempted six shots in ten minutes. He found success on three of his attempts and knocked down both of his three-pointers. Sasser left the 14-point loss with nine points.

This year, Sasser has appeared in 50 games off the bench for the Pistons, averaging 16 minutes on the court. He’s been knocking down 47 percent of his shots while putting up eight points per game. From three, Sasser has hit on 42 percent of his shots while taking nearly three attempts per game.

The Pistons and the Magic will battle it out at 6 PM ET.
