Detroit Pistons: Odds for when they will snap historic losing skid

This won't surprise you, but oddsmakers aren't giving the Detroit Pistons a good chance to get their next win of the season against the Boston Celtics.

Detroit has now set a league record with 27 straight losses just 30 games into the season, and everyone from diehard fans to avid bettors is wondering when they will finally get back into the win column. But DraftKings isn't too high on them turning things around against Jason Tatum's team, listing the chances of the Pistons getting their next win against the Celtics at 12-1 odds.

There are, however, six instances where DK has given the Pistons more favorable odds of breaking this now-infamous skid. Let's take a look.

Currently, DK lists Detroit's home matchup against the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 30 as the 9-5 (+180) favorite for the losing streak to end. The Raptors are in the midst of a three-game losing streak and are 3-9 as the road team this season, so it's easy to see why oddsmakers are giving the Pistons a shot to snap the skid before New Year's Eve.

If Detroit can't get the job done at home against Toronto, DK has them listed at 9-2 (+450) odds to get a road win against the Utah Jazz on Jan. 3. The Jazz are currently riding a three-game winning streak, but are still 10 games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference and are almost evenly split at 6-4 over their last 10 games.

At still fairly favorable odds, DK lists the New Year's Day matchup against the Houston Rockets and the Jan. 10 game against the San Antonio Spurs at 7-1 to be when the Pistons get their next win. DK also lists "Jan. 17 vs. Minnesota or later" at 7-1 odds, and boy would that be crazy if the Pistons upset the T-Wolves to stop their record-setting skid.

Rounding out the favorites, DK lists Detroit defeating Golden State on Jan. 5 at 9-1 odds. The Warriors appear to be rounding into form after an inconsistent start to their season that was punctuated by losing games late in the fourth quarter. However, Detroit has won two of the last three head-to-head matches and held a brief third-quarter lead against the Warriors in Detroit on Nov. 6 before losing 120-109.

At this rate, any matchup is worth betting on for the Pistons to finally get out from under this dark cloud. Just don't be surprised if they get a 28th straight loss on the road on Thursday against a Celtics team that is 14-0 at home. The odds for that game haven't been posted yet, but we have a feeling Detroit won't be the betting favorite in that one.
