At least for one night, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns showed they aren't giving up on competing during the 2025-26 season.
After trailing 29-19 after the first quarter and 71-54 at halftime, the Suns managed to pull out the win in their season opener against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
Led by Booker, the Suns stormed back from that 17-point deficit and claimed their first win of the year.
Booker, fresh off signing a massive extension to stay in Phoenix despite the departures of his recent co-stars in Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, scored 31 points in 36 minutes of action. And thanks to Booker putting the team on his back at times, the Suns were able to win both the third and fourth quarters.
Booker even made some history by recording his third career 30-point season opener, which is now the most in Phoenix's franchise history.

In addition to his 31 points, Booker also added five rebounds and three assists. His scoring came in an efficient manner as well, connecting on 10-of-19 shots (52.6 percent).

Booker is already setting the tone for a rebound season that sees him get back to his normal standards. In 2024-25, Booker registered one of the lowest field goal percentages of his career. Booker's 46.1 percent from last year was his lowest since he shot 43.2 percent during the 2017-18 campaign.
While it's true what happens on night one is often not indicative of what will transpire throughout an entire season and the Suns likely don't have enough around their four-time All-Star to contend, Booker appears to be on a mission to prove his doubters wrong, which could make Phoenix games more "must-see" than people initially expected.
