Devin Booker outscores entire Jazz team in first quarter

They say there's no "I" in "team," but there is one in "Devin." And Devin Booker was all the Suns needed early Wednesday night.

Booker poured in a quick 21 points in the first quarter of Phoenix's game against Utah, outscoring the entire Jazz team by himself. The Suns won the first quarter 39-18.

Booker started the game at a regular pace, helping Phoenix jump out to an early double-digit lead. He really heated up in the back half of the quarter, though, as from the 6:20 mark on, he scored 17 of the Suns' 24 points to close out the period.

It was the second-most points in an opening quarter for Booker. He scored 22 in the first quarter of Game 6 of last year's first-round playoff series against the Lakers before eventually leading the Suns to an NBA Finals berth.

It's far too early to tell if Phoenix will make it back to the Finals this season, but Booker and his teammates have the Suns playing like they deserve to. The Suns entered Wednesday atop the entire NBA at 37-9, three games ahead of the second-place Warriors.

Booker went into the game leading the team in scoring at 24.5 points per game. He's also second in assists (4.4) and fifth in rebounds (5.4).
