After trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets in a historic seven-team deal, the Phoenix Suns made it clear who their future centerpiece is going to be.
On Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Devin Booker has reached an agreement with the Suns for a contract extension worth $145 million over two years. It is the "highest annual extension salary in NBA history," surpassing the five-year, $285 million deal that the Oklahoma City Thunder handed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander this offseason.
That means Booker will be under contract with the Suns until the 2029-30 season. It's also worth noting that the deal brings his current contract value to $316 million for five years — an annual average value of $63.2 million.
"Booker and owner Mat Ishbia met in Las Vegas tonight to finalize the contract, which cements Booker’s commitment to the Suns vision for the future and him as the franchise’s leader moving forward," Charania wrote. "Booker now has five years and $316 million total on his Suns deal."
Devin Booker previously signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension with the Suns. The 2025-26 season is the second year of that deal.
With that said, he has $171 million remaining on the deal. Booker is set to earn $53 million in 2025-26, $57 million in 2026-27 and $61 million in 2027-28 before his latest $145 million deal kicks in.
Booker has career averages of 24.4 points on 46.4% shooting, 4.1 rebounds and 7.1 assists. In his 10 years in Phoenix, he has made the All-Star team four times and the All-NBA Team twice.
