Did Aaron Gordon Have The Dunk Of The Year?
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets dunked their way to the top of the Western Conference.

That’s one way of saying it, but Aaron Gordon‘s slam sure did a lot to help them secure the first spot in the West.

The Phoenix Suns were threatening to make it a four-way tie at the top of the Conference with a road win in Denver.

Then, in overtime, Aaron Gordon rebounded a Landry Shamet miss and the rest is history.

Shamet went back on defense and tried his best to contain that 6’9”, 235-pound bulldozer going at him at full steam, but the outcome was far from positive.

Gordon took flight and did what he does best: Ending his rival’s existence with one of the freakiest, most impressive, and most humiliating dunks you’ll ever see.

The dunk was originally ruled a charge, but a review eventually led the referees to overturn that call, giving Gordon a strong candidate for Dunk of the Year.

Shortly after the game, when asked about whether his latest dunk was a 50, the power forward: seemingly took a shot at the Dunk Contest referees:

“I don’t know man, maybe a 49,” Gordon jokingly said. “He doesn’t need to go there, we need him healthy,” Nikola Jokic added.

Gordon finished the night with seven dunks, one more impressive than the other.

He had 28 points with 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 1 triple, and he would’ve been the undisputed MVP if it wasn’t for Jokic’s monster 41/15/15 performance.

The Nuggets continue to march strong and look like a team no one wants to meet in the playoffs.
