Disappointment Follows Knicks' Rumored Coaching Decision

The New York Knicks are no strangers to big offseason shake-ups, and this year, all eyes are on the sidelines. After officially parting ways with Tom Thibodeau earlier this year, the team had a huge decision to make about who would take over as head coach.

Well, that decision is almost made, as ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Knicks are expected to hire seasoned coach Mike Brown.

Fans are already buzzing about it, and not in the way the front office probably hoped. According to the buzz, plenty of Knicks fans feel like Brown might not be the answer they were hoping for.

Alan Hahn took to X to share his thoughts on why hiring Brown would be a good one for the Knicks. Fans, however, were absolutely not having it.

One fan said, "That NBA Finals was nearly two decades ago. What has he done since? Not a championship level coach."

"Gets fired time and time again," commented a fan.

Another fan added, "Knicks didn’t upgrade in the slightest."

"All fine but he’s not an upgrade and was clearly a desperation hire, said a fan

A fan suggested an alternative hire saying, "No thanks. Been there, done that. I'll take Malone."

So, it’s almost official Mike Brown is the Knicks’ new head coach, but the feeling around this hire is… mixed, to say the least. According to Shams Charania, Brown was pretty much the only candidate who got multiple interviews, which makes it feel like the Knicks were scrambling for options after firing Tom Thibodeau.

Brown is a decent coach with plenty of experience, but swapping him in after back-to-back 50-win seasons under Thibs doesn’t exactly scream smart planning. Fans can’t help but wonder: was this really worth messing with their title window for? If it flops, the blame won’t fall just on Brown.
