Doc Rivers could bring notable name with him to Bucks coaching staff?

Doc Rivers may be getting the gang back together in Milwaukee.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Wednesday that Rivers, who just officially accepted the Bucks head coaching job, could bring a well-known name with him to his staff. Dave Joerger is under consideration to rejoin Rivers in Milwaukee, Wojnarowski says.

Joerger, 49, is the former head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies and the Sacramento Kings. As a head coach, Joerger produced three playoff berths and two 50-win seasons (all of which came with the Grizzlies). Joerger then spent three seasons as an assistant coach under Rivers with the Philadelphia 76ers (though he missed some time during the 2021-22 season amid a battle with cancer).

When it comes to the Bucks, who made the shocking move to fire rookie head coach Adrian Griffin, many are skeptical about their pick of Rivers as the replacement and are already cracking jokes. But the choice of assistant coaches on staff is almost as important, and Joerger, known for his strong defensive tactics, would make for a very positive addition.
