Doc Rivers Sounds Off on 76ers’ Schedule: ‘It’s Insane’
USA TODAY Sports

When Doc Rivers and the Philadelphia 76ers first looked at their 2022-2023 schedule, they noticed the post-All-Star break stretch was a challenging one. Not only is the string of opponents tough, but the amount of traveling makes it so much more difficult.

So far, the Sixers are doing a phenomenal job. Since the start of March, the Sixers have traveled for eight of ten games. They have a 9-1 record during the stretch, with a recent blowout victory against the Indiana Pacers on the road Saturday night.

When the Sixers return to the court on Monday to take on the Chicago Bulls, they’ll have an opportunity to host a team for the first time in over a week. However, Monday’s game in South Philly is just a pit stop. After the game concludes, the Sixers are back on the road for the next four outings.

“This flying home from here to play one game to go back on the road for four is just insane,” said Rivers after the Sixers’ Saturday night win in Indiana. “But it is what it is, and there's nothing you can do about it.”

While the Sixers will benefit from playing on their home court on Monday after playing their previous three games on the road, the Sixers’ head coach makes it clear that Monday’s game won’t actually benefit them much.

“The one game is still a road game,” Rivers continued. “You know, our crowd will give us support, and that only be the reason we know that we're at home. But we're literally coming home to do laundry. Then we go back on the road.”

After hosting the Bulls on Monday, the Sixers will travel back with them to Chicago to play the Bulls on the road Wednesday night. Then after a stop in the midwest, the Sixers will head out to the West Coast for games against the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, and the Denver Nuggets.

The Sixers won’t be back in South Philly until March 29, when they host the Dallas Mavericks
