Dolan Selling After "Sleepy" Sports Comment?

Shut down the GoFundMe's and tear up the checks: James Dolan isn't interested in selling the New York Knicks.

The Knicks' owner and Madison Square Garden Company CEO created a bit of a stir among the fanbase when he told New York Times reporter Katherine Rosman that he "(didn't) really like owning teams" in a profile released earlier this week. Asked for clarity on those comments by Andrew Bary of Barron's, Dolan still likes the Knicks and New York Rangers well enough to keep them in his portfolio.

“People misunderstood my comments to the Times: I love the teams and enjoy being the owner/manager of them," Dolan said. "There is absolutely no thought of a full sale of the teams."

A lengthy profile on Dolan, who is set to host the opening of a rounded venue known as the Sphere on the Las Vegas Strip next week, featured several tidbits based around the Massapequa native's approach to Knicks games. Such comments included a relative update on the ongoing legal situation concerning the banishment of team legend Charles Oakley.

Dolan referred to the professional sports business as "kind of sleepy" and addressed why he's in favor of ejecting fans who call for him to relieve himself of Knicks/Rangers duties by way of selling.

"(Those chants and signs) are directed at, on a personal basis, the guy who’s in charge — me," Dolan said.

Dolan is set to stay amidst exciting developments for both of his nightly Garden parties: the Knicks are coming off a season that featured both their best win total and first playoff series victory in a decade while the Rangers are looking to create a streak of three consecutive Stanley Cup Playoff berths.
