The Minnesota Timberwolves had a subpar performance in Game 1, which involved them not playing with as much energy as people saw in the first round. This was an issue during the regular season, and it reared its ugly head in the Game 1 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
Coach Chris Finch was displeased with this development because he knew the Timberwolves were much better than what they showed. They have lost the home-court advantage for the series, which could be pivotal in their bid to return to the Western Conference Finals.
It was a peculiar Timberwolves performance because they had five days of rest ahead of Game 1. They were supposed to be the fresher team, but they were timid compared to the Warriors, who played just a couple of days before.
The Timberwolves looked checked out for almost the entire game. Their performance in the first 24 minutes has broken records, as it was the worst first half in franchise history.
Playing against an experienced team like the Warriors is always tough because they know how and when to capitalize. Even without Stephen Curry for most of Game 1, the Warriors knew they had to keep dominating.
Anthony Edwards called out his teammates this season. The Timberwolves responded. Now head coach Chris Finch is borrowing Ant’s tactic to get the Wolves howling again ️

The Timberwolves should not have let that happen because they could have changed the game's complexion if they played with more energy. Even the players agree as Donte DiVincenzo feels the recurring issue from the regular season happened again.
"I mean last night hasn’t happened in a long time, so I think you could feel it, you’re trying to continue to fight, we found life in the game," DiVincenzo said ahead of Game 2. "They made a couple more winning plays, and now they’re up 17, I think it’s deflating, and you can feel it, but I guess you don’t realize the magnitude of it until you come in and watch it."
Now that they know this issue, they must address it in Game 2. The Timberwolves will need to feed off their crowd at Target Center, who will be cheering for every shot, steal, and rebound.
The Warriors will look to throw them off their game, especially since they won't have Stephen Curry for the next week. It is time for the Timberwolves to capitalize on their opponents' problems, like how the Warriors did in Game 1.
"You're the leader of the team and you've gotta come out and set the tone."

Chris Finch wants Anthony Edwards to carry the energy even when his shot isn't falling pic.twitter.com/KQNyDBem72
Anthony Edwards must lead by example because Finch sees him as the head of the snake. They need to be more aggressive, and that all starts and ends with Edwards leading them to victory.
