This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.
The bet: A double-double for Celtics center Robert Williams (+490 DraftKings)
Following a series-opening home loss to a 76ers squad missing newly named league MVP Joel Embiid, first-year Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla will need to make some adjustments. A primary one should be more playing time for Williams, who inexplicably saw just 20 minutes off the bench.
Although injuries hindered him during the regular season, Williams is fully healthy now and a clear difference maker. On Monday night, he made all three of his shot attempts and Boston outscored Philadelphia by eight points when he was on the floor. Conversely, starting center Al Horford was a minus-17, as Sixers point guard James Harden relentlessly attacked him with pick-and-roll action.
Williams essentially averaged a double-double last season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 9.6 boards per game. After he had 14 rebound chances despite limited usage in Game 1 of this series, tonight offers a great opportunity to get back to his previous productivity – and deliver nearly 5/1 value!
