Double Vision: Grizzlies’ Ja Morant rises to challenge

This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.

The bet: A double-double for Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (+160 DraftKings)

It has certainly been a turbulent fourth season for the former Rookie of the Year. After infamously brandishing a gun on Instagram Live, Morant was forced to serve an eight-game suspension for “conduct detrimental to the league.” And now his second-seeded Memphis squad faces elimination on its home floor at the hands of the Lakers.

But win or lose, Morant is more than capable of stuffing the stat sheet. In the Game 3 defeat, he fell one rebound shy of his second playoff triple-double, finishing with 45 points and 13 assists. He also posted a career-high seven triple-doubles during the regular season despite starting just 59 games.

Morant has reached double figures in at least two categories nine times over his last 14 playoff tilts. While only one double-double has come in this postseason, he is averaging 15 potential assists and 11 rebound chances across the three games he’s played.

With the season on the line, the embattled point guard should shine.
