Double Vision: Knicks’ Julius Randle battles to extend season

This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.

The bet: A double-double for Knicks forward Julius Randle (+125 DraftKings)

After finishing the regular season with averages of 25 points and 10 rebounds, Randle registered just one double-double as the Knicks dispatched the Cavaliers in the opening round. An ankle injury then caused him to miss the first game of this series, but he has been a prominent presence since.

In his three playoff games against the Heat, Randle has recorded two double-doubles and missed a third by a single rebound. When he returned in Game 2, his 25 points and 12 boards keyed New York’s only win, and he actually fell two assists shy of a triple-double that night. He is averaging a robust 18.3 rebound chances for the series.

Prior to this season, the only playoff experience of Randle’s nine-year career came versus the Hawks two years ago. Facing elimination at home in Game 5, he responded by leading his team in both points (23) and rebounds (13).

Another do-or-die scenario at Madison Square Garden should bring out similar production.
