This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.
The bet: A double-double for Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic (+160 DraftKings)
After missing a month with a calf strain, Nurkic is rounding into the form that earned him the nickname “the Bosnian Beast.” He has played more than 25 minutes in three straight games for the first time since January, when he strung together five double-doubles by averaging 16.8 points and 14 rebounds.
Back then, Nurcic would consistently log more than 30 minutes in competitive games. Any post-injury restrictions on his court time are likely to have been lifted by now, especially with Portland having gotten two off days prior to tonight’s tilt with the Jazz. Though yet to reach the 30-minute mark in his six games since returning, he has posted a double-double in two of the last three.
The last time Nurkic was in Salt Lake City, he collected 14 boards while scoring 15 points. Seeing an even 16 rebound chances per game figures to help him continue his ascent.
BONUS: Rockets center Alperen Sengun ended up sitting out Monday’s game due to illness, but he remains a good double-double bet tonight against the poor-rebounding Grizzlies.
