Draymond Green, like many in the NBA world, is shocked by the way the Chicago Bulls have started the NBA season.

Few experts would have predicted the Chicago Bulls to have started the season on fire, but that’s exactly what they’ve done.

The Bulls are coming off their first loss of the season, after starting the season 5-0. Matas Buzelis has looked special in their first few games in the NBA, leading the Bulls to this successful start.

Buzelis’ work ethic has paid off in the long run, as the Bulls look to turn around their struggles over the last few years.

But it isn’t just the NBA fanbase that didn’t see this coming. Even NBA stars like Draymond Green expected the Bulls to struggle this season.

Draymond Green surprised by Chicago Bulls, still won’t call them contenders

Draymond Green spoke on his podcast, reflecting on the start of the NBA season. One of the biggest surprises for him was how the Chicago Bulls’ start to the season.

However, while Green was complimentary of their roster and start to the season, he does expect them to hit a plateau and eventual downturn, and wouldn’t call them championship contenders based on the start.

“I thought they’d be one of the worst teams in the NBA this year. They possibly still could be one of the worst teams in the NBA.

“You start to pay attention and ‘man they are having a good year’, but the jury is still out.

“When you look at the makeup of their roster, they will run into trouble at some point with go-to scoring and things.

“But they play hard, and when you play hard in this league you win games, and they are playing hard, they are playing together.

“At some point the talent level does catch up, when that will be it varies. Sometimes it’s during the regular season, sometimes you go to the playoffs and get mopped.

“I don’t see the start and say ‘they are a contender'”.

Chicago Bulls have benefited from easier schedule to start to the season

While the Chicago Bulls have looked impressive to start the season, they have to be realistic when assessing their start to the season.

Of their first six games this season, the Bulls have only faced one legitimate title contender – the New York Knicks.

The Bulls have faced the Knicks twice so far, winning once and losing once. In fact, the Knicks are the team the snapped the Bulls’ undefeated start to the season.

The Bulls’ next five games present a tougher challenge, as they have to face the Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, and Detroit Pistons.

It’s likely that the Bulls end up on the losing end of most of these games, given these teams’ rosters, form, and their records so far.
