Draymond Green is trying his hand at some victim-blaming this week.

The Golden State Warriors star Green appeared Tuesday on Internet personality Kai Cenat’s “Mafiathon 3” stream. During the production, the streamers played a series of Green’s lowlights over the years (namely, documenting the many times that he has been fined and suspended by the NBA).

At one point, Green’s infamous stomp of Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis during the 2023 NBA playoffs appeared in the reel. Green briefly spoke about the incident and blamed Sabonis for it by claiming that Sabonis had initiated the situation by grabbing onto his ankle.

“You gotta get him back,” said Green. “You gotta get him back … Why is he holding onto my ankle?”

Here is the video:

It is possible that Green was just trying to be funny for the stream. But Green’s delivery seemed to be pretty deadpan there, indicating that he may actually believe that Sabonis was to blame for getting stomped on.

Green ended up getting suspended for one game by the NBA over the stomp, but his Warriors still managed to beat Sabonis’ Kings in seven games during the first-round playoff series. While there is often gray area involved when two players get tangled up, the former Defensive Player of the Year Green has long lost the benefit of the doubt given his countless dirty plays on opponents throughout his career (even as recently as this year’s playoffs).
