There are some things that are just inevitable in life. Two big-time personalities like Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks butting heads was always in the cards. This is especially true considering how competitive their series was.
The Golden State Warriors looked to be in firm control of the series when they went up 3 games to 1. Then a familiar scenario materialized for the Warriors. The series was tied up at 3-3, heading to a Game 7.
Golden State avoided disaster on Sunday, securing a competitive 103-89 victory over the Rockets. The Warriors' playoff experience won out in the end, sending the young Rockets home. The ending to the series was not without controversy though.
Brooks left Game 7 without doing his due diligence, according to Green. The Rockets defensive specialist did not show good sportsmanship, failing to shake the hands of the Warriors after a game. It was something Draymond took major issue with.
"Dillon Brooks ran off the court. So when I say you see what guys is made of, he ran off the court, like, ain't shaking nobody up. And you admit it that you was trying to hurt Steph's hand [Stephen Curry], which again, fine by me, bro. ...
[If] you're going to be talking, you're going to be Mr. Big Bad Wolf, don't lose and then not face the music. Don't be that guy, because again, you lose a lot of respect for guys in that moment. ...
That's who Dillon Brooks is. You know what I'm saying? And we understand, but you a sucker, man."
-Draymond Green
This is not the first time Brooks has been accused of ducking the smoke. In the Memphis Grizzlies series against the Los Angeles Lakers, the two-way wing was criticized for a lot of similar behaviors.
For Green and the Warriors, they will surely be happy to put this series behind them.
