The Golden State Warriors have advanced to the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs. They overcame the Houston Rockets in Game 7 with a 103-89 win, avoiding a disastrous blown 3-1 lead against a rival franchise. This was Golden State's fifth series win over the Rockets since 2015, as the franchise also set other records with their win.

Dillon Brooks was one of the key instigators in the series, having multiple differences with stars like Draymond Green and Steph Curry . After Houston's Game 5 win, Brooks and Rockets center Alperen Sengun wore shades to their (indoor) post-game media commitments, a slight that Curry didn't forget.

Steph wore shades to the Warriors' victorious Game 7 press conference, a gesture that Draymond recognized and lauded on Threads with four laughing emojis.

This loss has to sting the Rockets, given their poor history against the Warriors. While most of the losses were endured by the James Harden-era Rockets, it seems the new core hasn't been able to change their fortunes so far, despite talking a big game against the Warriors.

The Warriors ended Houston's charge for the No. 10 seed last season and have now eliminated them in the playoffs this year. Players from the Rockets side talked a big game before these decisive moments both times, with the veteran Warriors getting one over on them each time.

Houston will hope this is the last season they have to be subjected to this by the Warriors, as they took a massive step forward and will hope their young core is officially better by next season.
