Draymond Green names player he'd 'love' to team up with

Draymond Green would 'love' to be teammates with close friend LeBron James.

During the 2022-23 season, when Green was in the final year of his contract, rumors  linked him to the Los Angeles Lakers with the belief that he would team up with James.

Instead, Green signed a four-year, $100 million extension with the Golden State Warriors

Nevertheless, during a recent appearance on Shaquille O'Neal's "The Big Podcast," the four-time champion admitted that he would enjoy sharing the court with one of the greatest players in NBA history.

“I would love to play with Bron,” Green said. "Not necessarily I want to be on this NBA team, but I would have loved the opportunity to play together because I want to see how his mind works on a day-to-day basis in the basketball setting. I  would have loved the opportunity to just see on a day-to-day basis how his mind works like, when something is going on where there’s adjustment that need to be made, how you process that, what’s your process like, the things you go through, how you land here or land there."

Green is a controversial figure — he is as talented as he is divisive. Yet, his basketball skillset commands respect. In his prime, Green was a generational defensive talent whose impact far exceeded what you see in the box score.

Players with an elite basketball IQ often have more longevity in the NBA. They can find ways to be high-level producers long after their athleticism has waned. Of course, staying at the highest level is much easier if you team up with other stars. In Green's case, that's never been a problem.

Unfortunately for Green, he and James are in the final few years of their careers. As such, it's highly unlikely we ever see them share a court together outside of a potential All-Star game team-up, and even that feels like a long shot.
