Draymond Green had a horrible night during the Golden State Warriors' play-in tournament loss to the Phoenix Suns. He finished the game with a paltry stat line of five points, two rebounds, six assists and one steal. However, he failed to rally the Warriors' defense as Phoenix's starters overwhelmed them offensively, with all of them scoring in double digits.
It was a frustrating performance in a disappointing night that is symbolic of the season the Steve Kerr-led Warriors endured over the 2025-26 campaign. Jimmy Butler's ACL tear ultimately killed the team's hopes of another unlikely championship run this season.
Because of the difficulties the Warriors faced, the four-time NBA champion revealed in a recent episode of "The Draymond Green Show" that he's thought about quitting on the team.
"When you come into a season expecting to compete for a championship and it goes the way that it's gone for us, good luck trying to keep that together," he said.
However, he then revealed that his longtime head coach finds a way to reel him back into competing.
"There were several times this year [when] I thought about quitting. And each time, he'd just say the right thing to relight that fire and make you wanna go again. He said, 'Yo, you are a [expletive] winner.' That's a special coach."
Green had a solid 2025-26 campaign, averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists on 41.8% shooting. He will likely activate the player option on his four-year, $100 million deal and will be 36 by the time the 2026-27 campaign starts.
