Draymond Green shared his opinion on the current NBA strike, saying that while he supports the decision, he does not agree with the "sports can wait" argument and thinks that players are best off continuing the season and using their platform to put a focus on social issues.
"I stand with my brothers in the bubble continuing to stand for what’s right and fight the oppression of Black People," Green wrote on Twitter. "But I do hope that they understand, that we too have a job to do, which is continue building that very platform that we are using to speak for OUR PEOPLE!"
Green also shared his response to an Instagram comment that read "sports can wait," where he explained why he feels that the idea of putting a pause on sports will not accomplish the goal of putting a focus on social issues. Instead, Green feels that while protecting Black lives is more important than basketball, he believes that players will be able to lend a voice to the movement by playing.

"The notion that athletes should just stop working but no one else in the world should is just baffling to me..." Green wrote. "Athletes stand with the people, no secret there, but to actually tell athletes to stop doing what provides that platform to speak for the people is actually counterproductive."
